Rotherfield is an historic village, displaying an abundance of period properties. It enjoys a good range of amenities including the popular Courtyard Cafe, a village shop with local post office, chemist, doctors' surgery, renowned St Denys' Church, two public houses and a “good” primary school (Ofsted 2023). Also in the centre of the village is the Millennium Green, excellent for dog-walking.

The fabulous Rotherfield St Martin’s foundation is based here, combatting loneliness and isolation amongst its older residents by hosting several community events.
The village lies on the Eastern outskirts of Crowborough (about 3 miles), which offers a wider range of facilities including supermarkets. The Royal Spa town of Tunbridge Wells is just 7 miles to the North, providing an excellent range of shopping and leisure facilities including a theatre. There is a regular bus service to Tunbridge Wells from Rotherfield.
Railway stations are at Crowborough (1.5 miles), Wadhurst (4 miles) and Tunbridge Wells (7 miles). Crowborough serves London Victoria via Hurst Green with a journey time of around 1hr20mins. Wadhurst and Tunbridge Wells serve London Charing and Canon Street (Wadhurst to London Bridge in just under 1 hr).
Rotherfield has its own primary school and there are further primary options in nearby Mark Cross, Mayfield and Crowborough. Crowborough offers secondary school options. Tunbridge Wells offers the widest range of educational facilities including boys and girls grammar schools.
Rotherfield has a football club, golf course (including “one of the best 9 holes in the country”), plus various classes and indoor sports hosted in the village hall. Crowborough has a leisure centre, golf course and various sports clubs and facilities. The nearby Ashdown Forest offers wonderful walking opportunities.
