Hawkhurst is a large village (almost town-like) located about 4 miles south of Cranbook, about 8.2 miles East of Wadhurst, 10 miles West of Tenterden, and 14 miles North of Hastings. At its centre, two A roads cross, making this a highly accessible village with direct links to the M20 to the North, the A21 to the west and the coast to the South and South-East.

The village has an abundance of amenities including a boutique cinema and cafe in a former Victorian lecture hall, Waitrose and Tesco supermarkets, a traditional family butcher, bakery, take-away venues, pubs, pharmacy, medical practice, dental practice, barbers/hairdressers, clothing and gift shops.

About half a mile South of the centre of Hawkhurst is The Moor area, which is a quieter and older section of the village, which has the beautiful St Laurence Church, The Eight Bells pub and Hawkhurst football club. On the outskirts of the village there is also a tennis club, squash club, vets surgery and community hospital.

The village has a “good” primary school (Ofsted 2023) plus Marlborough House and Saint Ronans preparatory schools. The village also falls within the Cranbrook School catchment area.

The larger shopping centres of Tunbridge Wells and Hastings are just 14 miles away.

Hawkhurst falls within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are many footpaths and bridleways in and around the village taking you out into the surrounding undulating countryside.

Etchingham station is about 5 miles away, located on the Hastings (St Leonards) line to London Charing Cross and Cannon Street with services to London Bridge taking about 1 hr. Alternatively, Staplehurst station is about 9.8 miles to the North with services to London Bridge taking closer to 50 minutes.
