Etchingham is an unassuming village lying on the A265, which links the A21 (to the East) to Burwash and Heathfield (to the West). The village has its own railway station, located on the Hastings (St Leonards) line to London Charing Cross and Cannon Street with services to London Bridge taking about 1 hr.

On a quick drive-through you might miss what the village has to offer. It has a post office, a 14th Century church, a sports and social club, village hall, pre-school, “good” primary school (Ofsted 2022) and an award-winning bistro at the station. There is a strong community in the village. The village hall was purpose built in 2015 and attracts people from surrounding villages with many clubs and classes utilising its modern facilities.

Located in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where the Rivers Rother, Dudwell and Limden converge, the surrounding scenery is quite exceptional, with many footpaths leading up into the hills and down through the valley.

There are local convenience stores in nearby Burwash (2.5 miles) and Hurst Green (1.5 miles), with the larger towns of Hawkhurst (5 miles), Wadhurst (7 miles), Heathfield (8.5 miles) and Battle (9 miles) providing more comprehensive shopping facilities.
