The quiet little village has a small post office, doctor’s surgery, dentist, two cafés, a memorial hall and a 13th Century Grade I listed church. One might think it has an abundance of pubs given the signage, but sadly two of the pubs in the centre of the village have been converted. There is still a popular pub on the outskirts of the village, called the Halfway House.
Paddock Wood (about 3 miles to the North) offers more comprehensive shopping facilities including supermarkets and a mainline rail station. Tunbridge Wells is also easily accessible, offering a multitude of shops and facilities, a cinema, theatre and many fine restaurants.
There are lots of lovely walks to enjoy in the immediate area through farmland, orchards and woodland, with local footpaths forming part of the High Weald Landscape Trail. The village is located within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
