This annual Halloween photoshoot is not just about the keepers having fun. The animals get to join in the festivities too! Our phantom keepers have been busy handing out the animals' favourite treats, ensuring they get a taste of the Halloween excitement. And when the trick or treating is done, the keepers find time to enjoy a break on the merry-go-round and banana swings.
Jacinta Dawe, one of our dedicated zookeepers, shared her excitement about the event. “We’re all huge Halloween fans at Drusillas and the ‘creepy keepers’ loved getting into the scary spirit," she said. The process of becoming a friendly phantom was simple, involving just a bedsheet and a pair of sunglasses. The result? A park haunted by fun-loving ghosts!
But the Halloween fun doesn't stop there. The animals also get to enjoy the abundance of pumpkins decorating the park. Once the Halloween event is over, these pumpkins are offered up as tasty snacks, ensuring the animals get to enjoy a fa-boo-lous time too.
As Drusillas prepares for its “Shriek Week” Halloween event this half term, visitors can look forward to a range of exciting activities. From a live-action haunted house to spine-chilling spider encounters, there's something for everyone. So, why not join us for this frightful fun that continues until November 3?
