East Sussex Tops South East Holidays

Trailing behind, Kent secured second place with 22%, while Hampshire and the Isle of Wight shared the third position with 16%. Oxfordshire followed closely in fifth place with 13%, narrowly beating West Sussex and Buckinghamshire, which tied for sixth place with 11%.

When examining preferences on a broader scale, the South East region as a whole ranked seventh, with 8% of respondents planning to visit this summer. In contrast, the South West, encompassing popular destinations like Bristol, Bath, Devon, and Cornwall, led the pack with 21%, followed by London at 14%.

Zak Ali from Together Travel, who spearheaded the analysis, highlighted the diverse attractions the UK offers, from rolling hills and bustling forests to picturesque beaches and ancient castles. Ali emphasised that many people still associate holidays with international travel, a notion he believes should change. “Why hop on a plane for four hours when you can explore such beauty on your own doorstep?” he questioned.

The survey also delved into why people prefer UK holidays over international ones. A significant 53% cited ease of planning as the main reason, 48% mentioned cost-effectiveness, and 40% appreciated the shorter travel times.

With its rich blend of natural beauty, historical sites, and ease of access, it’s no wonder East Sussex has emerged as the top choice for holidaymakers in the South East this summer. So, why not pack your bags and explore what’s right on your doorstep?
